NOTD: The Blues ft. Revlon Lana'i Lagoon
Swatched: Revlon Parfumerie Spring 2014 Collection
We are super excited to share with you the Spring 2014 Parfumerie releases from Revlon! This line is scented, so each polish has a distinct smell (as opposed to the regular polish-y smell) when worn without a topcoat... and they also last! We got our hands on a few of the Fall releases, but we are definitely more excited about these as the mix of fresh and floral scents is right up our alley. All swatches are two coats with no topcoat.
First up is Ginger Melon, a classic bright pink creme with an amazing fruity scent. We're terrible at describing scents, but found that all of these fit their name's pretty well - so we suggest you imagine or go test them out for yourselves! This polish is a pretty classic colour in any collection, but if you're looking for a fun, scented alternative - this is your best bet!

Next up is Apricot Nectar, a bright punchy coral. This polish is both jelly and creamy (a hybrid, if you will) and looks great in two coats. We love this, and it actually is a pretty unique colour, almost a neon peachy coral.

Next up is Lavender Soap, a shimmery lilac. We don't love the application of this, and we also don't really love a soapy scent. This was a bit patchy (as you can see...) but did reach almost opacity in two coats. Not our favourite, but theres always one in any collection that just doesn't do it for you.

Next up is Lime Basil, and while we didn't expect to love this colour - we actually all really liked it! This is a green creme polish that applies well, and didn't stain at all (our swatch looks patchy on the outside edge of the ring finger, but its a reflection!). This is a unique colour in our collection, and will definitely get used in some nail art in the future - a definite recommendation if you're looking for a unique but fresh spring green.

Orange Blossom is a bright orange creme-jelly hybrid that is glossy and applies super smooth! This is two coats and we have to say that we are pretty impressed. This fills a large gap in our collection and we are loving it. Definitely a recommendation - this shade is like a juicy orange for your nails. Who wouldn't want that?

Next up is Pink Pineapple - this is another polish with a spot on scent! This is a great colour (reminds us of Butter London's Teddy Girl, but slightly more jelly) and it is actually a great formula somewhere between a cream and a jelly. We love this polish colour, and would wear it all summer long - an instatan shade!

Next up is Sunlit Grass, a bright bold yellow creme that represents a colour that is often overlooked by polish makers, in our opinion. This really brightened up our skin tone, and we would definitely wear it. The scent is not super grassy, and smells pleasant (to us!) - this applied nicely and had good coverage and opacity for such a bright colour in only two coats!

We literally saved the best for last. The scent of Tropical Rain is actually tropical rain. It's indescribable, but so amazing. You definitely need this colour - application was a breeze (a tropical one). And the scent is super amazing. If you only buy one polish from this collection, go buy this.

Nail Art: Revlon Sun Candy in Shimmering Sunset

Revlon Sun Candy in Shimmering Sunset |
Revlon is releasing a new line of double ended nail art products called 'Sun Candy' - this is a bright pink polish and a matching jelly with flaky glitters. Obviously, as lovers of all things pink and glitter, this was right up our alley.
We frequently get asked how to do a glitter gradient - and the answer is that a glitter gradient takes patience and a building up of thin coats. This is the perfect glitter to practice with! You cannot go wrong and as long you use thin layers, this will end up looking great!

Glitter Gradient using Revlon Sun Candy in Shimmering Sunset |
For this look, we used two coats of the pink creme polish and three super thin layers of the glitter polish, starting with half of your nail from the middle to the tip, and getting closer to just the tip with each glitter layer.
Hopefully this is a helpful way for anyone scared of going for a glitter gradient to step outside of their comfort zone!

Revlon by Marchesa: Evening Garnet 3D Jewel Appliqués Review
We were so excited to review the Revlon by Marchesa 3D Jewel Appliqués, and we are happy to report that we love them! The full selection of designs in this limited edition release can be found on the Revlon website.
We tried out the Evening Garnet appliqués, and although we sometimes struggle with nail stickers, these are surprisingly easy to pull around your nail to ensure that there are no bubbles or folds (our biggest pet peeve!). The kits come with a small file and plastic pushing tool, as pictured below.

To place the stickers, just select the appropriate size, peel off and stick on your nail. While these are sticky, if you place them wrong, you can always reposition without ripping which is helpful if you have unsteady hands! We bent the edges over the tips and filed away excess sticker, before sealing with some top coat. We love the intricate designs (and the 3D gems don't hurt!) and overall we would totally recommend these if you can get your hands on them!
These wear for a few days at the minimum and have a great 3D jewelled effect! We totally recommend these for a night out or a special event!

Swatched: Revlon Haute Tropics Collection (Summer 2013)
Today we have some more fun summer swatches for you! The Revlon Haute Tropics Collection is limited edition and in stores now until the end of June. This collection is a mix of colours and finishes - it borderlines on cohesive as a collection, but shade by shade it definitely has a polish for everyone!
First up we have Belize, Please - this is a bright pink with a subtle shimmer - a classic summer polish. This polish applied super well (this swatch is three thin coats) and we're happy with the results. This is definitely something we would pick up for a pedicure colour!
Next up is Cabana Queen. This is a pearly white, and the swatch is three thin coats. You really need to wait between layers until the polish is fully dry to avoid balding - but this does build up to mostly opaque pretty well for a white shimmer! This would also look great over a true white polish for a twist on white nails which are currently trending...
This polish looks great in the bottle, but we have to say we were a bit disappointed with the sheerness. It is a jelly with a bit of shimmer, but we wish it built nicely to a full coverage colour (because it's so pretty!) This is Coast is Clear, a shimmery mint polish. This would look great with a layer of glitter in between two coats, called a jelly sandwich (are you hungry?)!
Next up is Hello, Bali which is a purpley-wine jelly. We love how this polish builds and the colour is perfect for a summer to fall transition shade (August is calling our name already!). This swatch is three thin coats and the colour is perfect - not to red and not too purple.
Next up is Lagoon Afternoon, a creme grey-blue polish which is true to its name - we're imagining a lagoon right now (or at least a beach!). This polish applied super well in two thin coats. You could probably get away with one slightly thicker coat, but we like the faster dry times that come with thin coats!
Next up is a mauve-y beige with pink shimmer, called Secluded Beach. This is the perfect colour if you want a laid back mani, but don't want to be too boring! If you're going on vacation and can only bring one polish to touch up your tips - go with this one! This is two thin coats and the coverage on this was great!
Next up is the brightest colour in the collection; if you've been following us, you know we're obsessed with brights right now. This is Mai Tai Ask? and it is an orange crelly (creme jelly), which means that it is fully opaque but still gives that plush jelly polish look! This is probably in competition with the next polish to be our pick of the collection!
Finally, we have Plunge Pool, a royal blue metallic polish which is absolutely gorgeous. Surprisingly, we have nothing like this in our collection and are totally obsessed. This is one of our favourites and applies perfectly in two coats.
