SWATCHED: O.P.I. Neon Collection 2014

Today we have the O.P.I. Neon collection for Summer 2014 swatched for you - for all of our swatches we used two coats, with nothing underneath. If you're looking for the neons to pop a bit more, we recommend using a white coat underneath. O.P.I. has released a white base coat with this collection, which we haven't had the chance to check out. We suspect that pigment in a base coat may alter the ability of the base coat to adhere to your nails... But we will have to try it out before we come to any conclusions. On to the polishes...

O.P.I. Push and Pur-Pull
First up is Push and Pur-Pull, a rich crelly purple with impressive application. This swatch is two coats - and this polish is one of our favourites in the collection.

O.P.I. Down to the Core-al
Next up is Down to the Core-al, a bright coral (who would have thought?) with a slight shimmer. This polish is pretty streaky, as you can likely see in the picture, but the coverage is impressive. This shade wasn't standout for us, but if you're in love with coral it would be a fine addition to any collection.

O.P.I. You are So Outta Lime!
Next is a unique shade, a creme lime that we are absolutely in love with. We don't have anything like You are So Outta Lime! - and the application was amazing. This is a total recommendation - everyone needs this in their collection!

O.P.I. Hotter Than You Pink
Hotter Than You Pink is a bright pink shimmer that has been done before, but is done well in this release. This is definitely not a must-buy, but if you're in the market this a good option. This is also a great classic pedicure colour for summer!

O.P.I. Juice Bar Hopping

Juice Bar Hopping is a bright orange-tangerine crelly with serious neon punch! This is the brightest orange we've ever seen, and it applies amazing. This is a great buy for anyone looking for a rainbow of neon polishes.

O.P.I. Life Gave Me Lemons
Finally, Life Gave Me Lemons is a green-leaning yellow that has a semi-patchy application. The colour of this polish is its saving grace, as its another unique creme polish. The shade is unforgettable, but if you are looking for a polish that is easy to apply - this may not be your go to.

Let us know what you think of these polishes and whether you'll be picking any up for your summer tips!

NOTD: Kiss Neon Star Nail Strips + O.P.I. Life Gave Me Lemons

For today's NOTD - we mixed some fun Kiss Nail Dress Mix It Up Nail Strips in Margeurita with O.P.I.'s Life Gave Me Lemons for this bright fun mani! The Nail Strips come with two separate designs - the pictured neon and silver stars, as well as silver stars on black! There are enough strips for multiple manis... so you may see more of these in a later post.

Let us know what you think in the comments section - and happy polishing!

Top Three: O.P.I. Spotlight on Glitter Collection

O.P.I. Desperately Seeking Sequins (left), I Reached My Gold (back), and Rose of Light (front)
O.P.I. recently re-released some of their favourite glitters in a collection called 'Spotlight on Glitter' - we paired our favourite three with some of the Quo by ORLY Spring 2014 shades to show them off to you! We picked out a silver, gold, and rose gold  - the three new staple metallics, in our opinion.

First up is Desperately Seeking Sequins, a silver holographic glitter with tiny bar glitter, tiny holographic glitter, and some small hex glitters. We love anything holographic, so this is naturally right up our alley. Index and middle fingers have two coats, while the ring and pinky fingers have only one. This has great coverage and the formulation is perfect! This polish is definitely one of our recommendations if this is your thing.

Next up is our least favourite of the three, I Reached My Gold, with large gold hex glitters and smaller silver holographic glitters of two sizes. This polish would be great, except that the hexes do curl a bit, which can make topcoat a difficulty. As you may be able to see on our middle finger, there was a bit of drag of the base polish - although it probably wasn't fully dry. The base on this polish is a little thicker, and could become gloopy if you work with the bottle open for an extended amount of time. There is one coat on all the nails with the exception of the middle nail, which has two.

Finally, we have another of our favourites (who isn't obsessed with rose gold?) - Rose of Light. Our swatch shows one coat on the index, middle, and pinky fingers, and two on the accent nail (or ring finger). We love this. The small holographic squares and rose gold glitters make this a beautiful topper for almost any polish - for example, we don't love this base on it's own... but with Rose of Light as a top coat it totally works. A recommendation for any rose gold, glitter, or holographic lovers!

Overall, we were surprisingly satisfied by this rebrand of O.P.I's favourite glitters - let us know if you're loving these too and if you've tried any we would love to hear your thoughts!

How We Wore It: OPI Muppets Collection Glitters

The second O.P.I, and Muppets collaboration has recently launched, and as glitter lovers we picked a few shades to top our spring manis! The entire collection includes some soft shades, a metallic blue and a metallic purple, as well as a shredded glitter (not our style) and our two glitter fav's - Let's Do Anything We Want and Muppets World Tour. Both of these polishes had pretty ideal coverage, and we think they are both unique and wearable, and we're impressed to see O.P.I. releasing such fun glitters! Check out how we wore the polishes below, and let us know how you wore any of the polishes from this collection in the comments!

NOTD: Plaid ft. OPI Sheer Tints in I Can Teal You Like Me

O.P.I. Sheer Tints in I Can Teal You Like Me
We were lucky to get our hands on I Can Teal You Like Me from the O.P.I. Sheer Tints collection (which is perfection based on the swatches we've seen). We were skeptical about the idea at first - but we love how easy this is for nail art! We used a striper brush for the plaid in this case, and used Models Own Hypergel for the base (a great white for bases - we recommend!). We totally need to get our hands on the whole collection. YOU NEED THIS! This is going to be great for summer nail art, and if you've been dying to try out a tye-die look, these polishes could definitely make it easy as can be.

Review: OPI Glitter Off! Base Coat

You may have seen our previous swatch of Ciaté's Love Letter - a gorgeous glittery pink - however, if you don't struggle with glitter polish removal - please let the rest of us in on your secret. I have heard of using glue base coat to peel off after, but after testing found that the glue was too thick to paint nicely on to my nails. This is where O.P.I. saves the day with their new Glitter Off! Base Coat.

O.P.I. Glitter Off! Base Coat

Nails post O.P.I. Glitter Off!
We used a thin coat on our nails prior to polishing and didn't even let it dry (which is probably part of the instructions if we bothered too look - but we were too excited. Fabulously, this totally worked! We scraped off our nails with an orange wood nail pusher which we had lying around, and it removed totally easy leaving us with a few remnants (pictured to the left, image left small to control the pain of unpolished nails) which came off in half a second with regular polish remover.

This product is totally worth it for us, as we constantly repaint our nails. We also found the wear time to be about 3 days chip free, however once this chips you are too tempted to peel off the whole nail. If you struggle with glitter removal, this could be a perfect holy grail base coat, and we definitely recommend it.

Let us know in the comments if you have tried this product and had a similar experience, or if you have another solution for easy glitter polish removal!
